The cross is the universal symbol of the Christian faith, the lynching tree is a symbol of black oppression in America. They both symbolize death but the cross represents a message of hope and salvation while the lynching tree represents a message fear and white supremacy.

Everyone in the white evangelical Church should read this book. It contains a view point the Church needs to hear.
