A U.S. Navy pilot Jeremiah Denton recounts his experience as an American prisoner of war (POW) after being shoot down over North Vietnam. He spent over 7½ years as a POW being subjected to brutality, isolation, starvation and torture. In 1979 the book was also turned into a television movie.
