Questioning Evangelism: Engaging People’s Hearts the Way Jesus Did by Randy Newman

Many Christians think that the only skill needed in evangelism is to declare the gospel in a clear concise way to the lost.

Randy Newman says there are a least three skills needed in evangelism. (1) the clear declaration of the gospel, (2) the ability to defend the gospel for those who question and criticize it and (3) the skill of dialoguing the gospel which is a combination of skills (1) and (2).

Newman describes this third skill as “giving and taking – asking questions and bouncing ideas back and forth…” He goes on to say that “We need all three skills if we’re to be Christ’s ambassadors in the twenty-first century.” Cultivating this third skill will enable us to engages people’s hearts the way Jesus did.
